ELIM led the field studies for the impact assessment of UNICEF’s pilot programme to test out low-cost accelerated school readiness in Mozambique. The evaluation used the IDELA tool to assess the effects of the Accelerated School Readiness Programme on the children’s school preparedness and successful transition to a primary school. The programme covers 60 communities from the districts of Morrumbala and Derre in Zambézia province. ELIM conducted Baseline, Mid-term and End-line surveys of the programme using a quasi-experimental approach to compare the programme’s outcomes on a treatment group and a comparison group, each comprising of 30 eligible communities. The full impact evaluation covered 1200 children aged between 5 and 6 years.
